I like that graphic, Ray. Should send that to various FBs where visible, or pose the scenario on Yahoo answers. Curious to see how JWs would react. They'd probably all say, "we don't shun", or the more honest of them will say that it's scriptural to shun.

An offer from the Governing Body
by irondork in.
the governing body took us along to an unusually high mountain, and showed us all the friends and family members that had been ripped away and they said to us.... .
all these people we will give back to you if you fall down and do an act of worship to us.

I keep thinking of the pumps on the Titanic - working at 100% capacity, but only buying time until the inevitable sinking.
I'm not thoroughly familiar with the specifics on the Titanic other than the ship sinking, but I have to ask.......Did the captains of the ship guilt trip the crews to work extra hard all the while knowing the ship was still gonna meat it's doom?

Let's do the math......... 1.) You don't know the person who died. 2.)The person's father is someone you think very little of. 3.)Place will be full of JWs, some of whom will make attempts to ahem cough cough "encourage"you. 4.)Your mother might view this is an oppurtunity to ahem cough cough "encourage" you.
Sounds like a no-brainer to me. So when your mother calls again to ask whether you're going, you reply...............

How would you feel if your coworkers pooled in on Powerball lottery tickets and won, and you didn't participate?
by Theocratic Sedition ini just recieved an email stating that the folks here won $8.00 over the weekend.
so they're going to use the money to procure more tickets and i believe the jackpot is up to like $260 million or some other crazy figure.
i never participate and i absolutely enjoy watching them waste their money on tickets with a smug haughtiness that only an active jw can muster.

However, if they were to win.......I'd strongly consider stepping out in front of a bus after work.

You two are just going off the deep end of apostasy. First birthday parties, and now ouija boards. What's next? A goatee for Dazed, and pursuing a degree for Dazed's Better Half?

Are the Witnesses Really Losing Their Young People?
by What Now? inthat article about jehovah's witnesses having the lowest retention rate for born ins keeps popping up every now again ... i'm just curious if any of you have noticed that this is actually the case.
in the congregation that i grew up in, i'm going to say that 95% of the young people in their teens to mid twenties are either regular pioneering, regular auxiliary pioneering, serving in foreign language congregations or where the need is greater.
both of my younger sisters are regular pioneers - and the young people in their hall even organize 8 pm to midnight service on friday nights of their own accord.

Counting the people who were in the congregation that I grew up in, that were my age or a handful of years older or younger, we're looking at like 20 people. Only two of us are still in and active, and I'm on JWN. He might be too lol. Times I've given talks away, the few young people in attendance have the disposition of not wanting to be there. To be fair, I've seen some halls with vibrant young ones, but from most of my experiences, most young ones leave or barely hang on showing up for the memorial or special talk. Then I dont see them again until the following year.

My husband MISSED the meeting today! Unheard of!
by Julia Orwell inhe decided to take me somewhere nice in the country for a day instead, and when he suggested it last night i was amazed that he would have even thought of missing the meeting!
he was one of those guys who only missed a meeting, literally, if he had a spinal injury and couldn't move!.
but, i've been sharing a little of the ttatt with him, teensy tiny bits that i can substantiate from the bible or other reputable sources.
